Plain Language Summary:

People with hemophilia and von Willebrand disease are at increased risk for weak bones and fractures, but many treatment centers do not routinely screen for bone health problems. A survey of U.S. Hemophilia Treatment Centers found that only a minority regularly check vitamin D levels or perform bone density scans. The findings suggest a need for clearer screening guidelines to help detect and manage bone health issues earlier in these patients.
