VERITAS-Pro

Validated Hemophilia Regimen Treatment Adherence Scale-Prophylaxis

The Validated Hemophilia Regimen Treatment Adherence Scale-Prophylaxis (VERITAS-Pro) was created to evaluate self-reported adherence to factor prophylaxis in hemophilia, demonstrating strong reliability and validity since its introduction. This user-friendly questionnaire, which takes under five minutes to complete, is available in 36 languages, and is widely utilized in both clinical and research environments. Its results help track adherence and identify factors contributing to non-adherence, thereby facilitating targeted interventions to improve treatment compliance. VERITAS PRN was also developed to measure adherence in those not prescribed to a prophylaxis treatment regimen.

Building on this foundation, the VERITAS-NexGen has been developed as a 25-item scale specifically for measuring adherence to emicizumab, a self-administered treatment for hemophilia. This new scale categorizes adherence into five subscales (Dosing, Timing, Injection, Planning, and Bleeds) and employs a 1-9 rating scale for easier interpretation. While the VERITAS scales are essential for monitoring treatment adherence, they should complement other data sources like pharmacy records and patient interviews to provide a comprehensive view of adherence behaviors. Overall, the VERITAS scales address the critical need for effective adherence measurement to improve health outcomes in hemophilia patients.
