Plain Language Summary: People with hemophilia and von Willebrand disease can experience joint bleeding that may lead to long-term joint damage. Point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound (POC-MSKUS) is increasingly used to detect joint problems, but many different scanning methods exist.
This review identified 13 ultrasound protocols and found that most can help assess joint disease. However, more research is needed to better understand how well these tools predict future joint damage and monitor changes over time. The findings support continued efforts to improve and standardize ultrasound use in bleeding disorders.
